Some Notes
- On Lap 14 of the Sprint I counted Hamiltons move on Magnussen as an overtake because Hamilton was fully ahead but not Magnussen’s repass straight after as it was an illegal move.
- On Lap 15 of the Sprint Magnussen deliberately gave up positions to Tsunoda and Hamilton so these moves did not count.
- Lap 5 of the main race Russell passing Tsunoda did not count because Tsunoda went of the track at T7
- Lap 39 Sainz passing Piastri did not count as the stewards considered the move illegal. Perez and Hamilton overtaking Piastri on the following lap did count as Piastri still had sufficient enough pace despite the damage.
- Lap 52 Stroll on Albon did not count as it was an illegal move.

Likewise lapping and unlapping do not count as overtakes
Overtakes on Lap 1 do not count (See FAQ’s section for a detailed explanation)
Remember Overtaking data is just interesting data. It largely tells you how easy overtaking is in a given race not how entertaining the race is. Generally races with more overtaking are more entertaining but this is definitely not a rule. Baku 2016 had 80 overtakes and was a very dull race, Japan 2005 had 15 overtakes and was one of the best races ever.
Please see the rules and FAQ’s sections for more info on how this data is put together.
