Canadian GP had 48 Overtakes. The Most at Montreal for a Decade.
Hulkenberg had most overtakes with 7.
The 2024 Canadian GP had 48 overtakes, 22 of these were shown in the TV broadcast. Last year’s race had 20 overtakes, 2022 had 35 and 2019 had 30. The circuit average at Montreal in the hybrid era is 30. 2024 is the highest total at Montreal since 2013 which also had 48.
This is the highest total at Montreal for over a decade and was certainly helped by the wet conditions. The total could of been a good bit higher had Logan Sargeant not caused a safety car just as the track was drying then immediatly followed by another rain shower. All the chaos that potentially could of happened in that moment was prevented by the safety car being out.

Rules
Only on track passes for position count (Positions gained due to cars pitting/ off track or spun/ major reliability issues do not count)
Likewise lapping and unlapping do not count as overtakes
Overtakes on Lap 1 do not count (See FAQ’s section for a detailed explanation)
Remember Overtaking data is just interesting data. It largely tells you how easy overtaking is in a given race not how entertaining the race is. Generally races with more overtaking are more entertaining but this is definitely not a rule. Baku 2016 had 80 overtakes and was a very dull race, Japan 2005 had 15 overtakes and was one of the best races ever.
Please see the rules and FAQ’s sections for more info on how this data is put together.
