A Few Notes

  • This data does not include overtakes made on Lap 1 or the first lap of a standing restart.
  • On track moves for position only, not counting passes made in pits, lapped cars, cars unlapping, on cars off track or spun, team orders etc…
  • Overtaking data is just interesting data it does not show how entertaining the race is
  • I’ve included overtakes on Perez in the Sprint and Sainz in the GP as while they were carrying damage I did not consider either to be uncompetitive enough.
  • As noted above I’ve made an exception to the Lap 1 rule for this weekend’s Sprint because there was no standing start.

Suspected Overtakes

  • Unfortunately due to F1’s decision to restrict the use of certain technologies to access F1TV that they ironically advertise in their official podcasts. I now cannot check the onboards as I have been doing in the past so there are a few additional possible overtakes. I don’t think any of the below list will be overtakes but I would normally check to properly rule them out. If anyone could check these it would be appreciated.
  • On lap 6 of the sprint Albon/Russell/Stroll were seen changing positions on the timing tower. A car needs to be fully ahead for me to consider it as an overtake.
  • On lap 2 of the GP Zhou and Ocon briefly swapped positions on the timing tower.
  • Lap 7 Ricciardo and Bottas were very close at the pit exit.
  • Lap 8 Ocon and Albon were very close at the pit exit.
  • Lap 12 Sargeant and Sainz briefly swapped positions on the timing tower.
  • Lap 22 Zhou and Hulkenberg possibly overtook Ricciardo just before Ricciardo pitted.
  • Lap 24 Ricciardo possibly overtook Sainz just before Sainz went in to the pit to retire. I think Sainz was just cruising at that point though.
  • There might be some more overtakes on Lap 1 and 2 of the Sprint as drivers were exiting the pits. The timing tower was a bit slow and glitchy while all this was happening.
