Quick Analysis

This was a fairly run of the mill race in Suzuka in terms of overtakes. The total will have been knocked back by the lengthy safety car period at the start which made it a more comfortable 2 stop and reduced the strategical variation needed to get similar totals to the 2018 and 2019 races. The amount of attrition early on in the race won’t have helped either. Nonetheless there were a number of engaging battles particularly between the Mercedes drivers and drivers were rarely unable to make the move when they were behind a slower car.
